About SCBM
Established in 2017, Sydney College of Business & Management (SCBM) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) committed to high-quality education and nationally recognised training. We offer Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Certificate courses in Business, Leadership & Management, and Hospitality, designed to equip students with practical, career-focused skills for industry success.
This document serves as a legally binding agreement between SCBM and enrolled students, outlining rights, responsibilities, and institutional policies. By enrolling, students agree to comply with these policies.
1. Access and Equity
SCBM promotes a fair and inclusive learning environment with equal opportunities for all students. We do not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, disability, or background.
Support Services – Students with language, literacy, numeracy, or physical disabilities will receive appropriate support, provided their condition does not prevent them from meeting course requirements.
Discrimination & Harassment Policy – Any form of discrimination, bullying, or harassment will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.
For equity concerns, students should contact SCBM’s CEO or student support services.
2. Attendance Policy
SCBM requires 100% attendance for classroom-based sessions unless:
- The trainer confirms that prior achievements cover the required content.
- A valid reason (e.g., medical emergency) prevents attendance, and the student arranges to make up missed content.
Non-compliance with attendance requirements may lead to course exclusion without a refund.
3. Course Cancellations & Refunds
SCBM offers Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Certificate programs, each with specific cancellation policies:
Short Courses (e.g., Hospitality, First Aid, White Card)
- No refunds for non-attendance or withdrawals after booking.
- Rescheduling is allowed, but not within 48 hours of the class start time.
Diploma & Advanced Diploma Courses
- If SCBM cancels a course – Students receive a full refund or can transfer to a future session.
- Cancellation before course commencement – Refunds are available, minus a $500 admin fee for full qualifications or $70 for short courses.
- Cancellation after course commencement – No refunds, except in exceptional cases, where a partial refund may be considered.
Refunds are processed via direct credit transfer, bank transfer.
4. Liability Limitation
SCBM’s liability is strictly limited to course fees paid. We are not responsible for additional losses such as travel or accommodation expenses. Students should review third-party refund policies and consider travel insurance.
5. SCBM Code of Practice
SCBM upholds ethical training and business practices, ensuring:
- Compliance with Industry Standards – Training aligns with Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and RTO regulations.
- Health & Safety – A safe learning environment for all students and staff.
- Integrity & Fairness – Ethical business conduct and equitable student treatment.
- Qualified Trainers – Industry-experienced educators providing high-quality instruction.
- Student Records Management – Secure handling of attendance, progress, and assessment data.
6. Complaints & Appeals
Students may submit formal complaints using the SCBM Complaints Form, available upon request at info@scbm.edu.au.
- Acknowledgment within 3 business days
- Investigation & resolution by SCBM management
- Appeals must be emailed to the CEO with supporting documents.
If a student is not satisfied with the resolution, they may escalate the complaint to the relevant education regulator.
7. Computer Literacy Requirements
Hospitality & Short Courses
- Online learning components must be completed
- Basic computer literacy is required
Business & Management Courses (Diploma & Advanced Diploma)
- Students must bring a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop with Microsoft Office (2007+ for PC, 2010+ for Mac)
- PowerPoint proficiency is required for Leadership courses
Students needing additional IT training should arrange pre-course tuition.
8. Fees & Payments
Course fees are detailed in promotional materials and must be paid before course commencement.
- Students receive immediate access to course materials after enrollment.
- SCBM reserves the right to adjust course fees, with prior notice given to enrolled students.
9. Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) Support
SCBM ensures that students meet the required LLN levels for each course:
- Short Courses – Students must follow verbal/written instructions and complete assessments.
- Diploma & Advanced Diploma – Strong communication, reading, writing, and analytical skills are essential.
Students requiring LLN support should notify SCBM before booking, so reasonable adjustments can be made.
10. Course Outcomes & Certification
- Short Courses – Competent students receive a Statement of Attainment on the same day.
- Diploma & Advanced Diploma Courses – Upon successful completion, students receive a Certificate & Academic Transcript issued by SCBM.
11. Punctuality & Professionalism
Students must arrive on time for all classes.
- Late arrivals must inform their trainer/coordinator in advance.
- Repeated tardiness may result in exclusion from the course.
12. Academic Integrity (Plagiarism & Cheating)
- Plagiarism or cheating will result in immediate course cancellation without a refund.
- SCBM reserves the right to report academic misconduct to relevant authorities.
13. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
SCBM provides RPL assessments for students with work experience, prior education, or industry knowledge.
- Applications must be submitted before enrolling.
- RPL approvals are at the discretion of SCBM’s academic board.
14. SCBM Guarantee
By enrolling at SCBM, students agree to a legally binding Training Agreement ensuring course completion, provided they meet attendance and assessment requirements. Medical-related deferrals will be considered case-by-case.
15. Special Needs & Learning Support
SCBM accommodates students with learning difficulties, behavioral challenges, or disabilities.

16. Student Support Services
Trainers & assessors provide ongoing academic support.
Additional one-on-one support is available outside scheduled class times.
